Corsican – The Articles

THE ARTICLES in Corsican

  Masculine Feminine
Singular (Lu), U, L’ (La), A, L’
Plural (Li), I, L’ (Le), E, L’
  1. Lu, la, li and le are only used in poetry or elaborate language.
  2. The articles become l’ before a vowel. However, before in- other alternatives are possible.

 

EXAMPLE:

U mare – The sea

I mari – The seas

L’omu – The man

L’omi – The men

A mela – The apple

E mele – The apples

L’uva – The grape

L’uve – The grapes

A’nsalata / L’insalata – The salad

E’nsalate / L’insalate – The salads
