Bavarian – The Articles

THE ARTICLES in Bavarian:

The articles in the Nominative case are:

Masculine Feminine Neuter
Singular da d’ as / ‘s
Plural de/d’ de/d’ de/d’
  1. Feminine d’ normally becomes t’ before f-, h- and s-b’ before b-, m– and pf-g’ before g- and k-. It sometimes becomes p’ before f-. 

 

EXAMPLES:

Da Hund – The dog

d’Ruam – The turnip

As / ‘S Kind – The child

De / d’Leid – The people

t’Frau / p’Frau – The woman

b’Muadda – The mother

g’Kua – The cow
